Sizing Calculator follows a consistent calculation flow so that the inputs, formula, output, and limitations can be reviewed together.
1. Choose the task
Use the calculator that matches the question: facility load planning, motor current, generator or UPS capacity screening, transformer capacity, conductor checks, voltage drop, power quality, or another listed industrial electrical task.
2. Enter project values
Enter the values requested by the calculator using the displayed units. Depending on the tool, inputs may include kW, hp, kVA, kvar, volts, amps, feet, ohms per 1,000 feet, percentages, hours, or manufacturer and table values that you have already verified.
3. Review the calculation
The calculation engine evaluates the published definition for that calculator and returns the requested outputs. Many tools use direct arithmetic such as power triangles, phase factors, percentages, current sharing, area ratios, or I-squared-R loss. The exact formula is shown in the Formula section when the calculator provides one.
4. Interpret the result within its scope
Some outputs are preliminary screens, candidate values, margins, or measurement summaries. A result may depend on an adopted electrical code edition, an authority having jurisdiction, a manufacturer curve, a verified table value, equipment listing, site measurement, or a complete engineering study. Those conditions are stated on the relevant calculator page.
5. Verify before applying
Replace example presets with project data, review warnings and limitations, and compare the result with verified equipment information, manufacturer instructions, project specifications, adopted requirements, and professional judgment. Sizing Calculator does not replace those sources.
